    Memorial Day Weekend
Dustin and I have decided to go to San Francisco for Memorial Day weekend. We've both been wanting to go and my brother leaves Continental in 2 weeks, leaving that weekend my last weekend to travel for free.

Does anyone have hotels they recommend that aren't expensive and are in ok areas? I know squat about San Fran.

Here's an article I came across today that I thought I would share. HarperCollins is letting people read a few of their books online for free. One that caught my eye that I think others may also find interesting is, "The Undecided Voter's Guide to the Next President: Who the Candidates Are, Where They Come from, and How You Can Choose."

Has anyone every sold something over the internet? Last night I posted my Mac on Craigslist. There's someone who is interested in it and asked if I would be willing to do a combination of cash and paypal. Is this fishy or something that routinely happens? I don' know much about paypal to know. I've never bought or sold anything from a private party online before.

Stolen from a couple other journals...

I want to know what, if anything, you think of me. Comments aren't screened and they can be anonymous if you want. A lot of people have come and gone over the years and this might help me to better understand why. I'm sure I've pissed off a lot of people for a lot of different reasons. And on the flip side, I tend to take some things to heart more than I should. I'm not sure I can help/change either of those things, and not sure I ought to try.

    Have at it...

    This is a longshot, but...
I bought a movie editing software for my mac earlier this week. It didn't even click in my head that it wouldn't be compatible with leopard. I didn't find out that it's not until I put the disk in. I bought the software at Fry's so I'm pretty sure they won't take it back because the box has been opened. I'd prefer to just return it, but in the chance that I can't, is there a patch that allows running software made for the previous OS System?

Becoming Illegal: An actual letter from an Iowa resident and
    sent to his Senator:

    The Honorable Tom Harkin
    731 Hart Senate Office Building
    Washington DC, 20510
    Phone (202) 224 3254

    Dear Senator Harkin,

As a native Iowan and excellent customer of the Internal Revenue Service, I am writing to ask for your assistance. I have contacted the Department of Homeland Security in an effort to
determine the process for becoming an illegal alien and they referred me to you.

My primary reason for wishing to change my status from U.S. Citizen to illegal alien stems from the bill which was recently passed by the Senate and for which you voted. If my understanding of this bill's provisions is accurate, as an illegal alien who has been in the United States for five years, all I need to do to become a citizen is to pay a $2,000 fine and income taxes for three of the last five years. I know a good deal when I see one and I am anxious to get the process started before everyone figures it out.

Simply put, those of us who have been here legally have had to pay taxes every year so I'm excited about the prospect of avoiding two years of taxes in return for paying a $2,000 fine. Is there any way that I can apply to be illegal retroactively? This
would yield an excellent result for me and my family because we paid heavy taxes in 2004 and 2005.

Additionally, as an illegal alien I could begin using the local emergency room as my primary health care provider. Once I have stopped paying premiums for medical insurance, my accountant figures I could save almost $10,000 a year.

Another benefit in gaining illegal status would be that my daughter would receive preferential treatment relative to her law school applications, as well as "in-state" tuition rates for many colleges throughout the United States for my son.

Lastly, I understand that illegal status would relieve me of the
burden of renewing my driver's license and making those burdensome car insurance premiums. This is very important to me given that I still have college age children driving my car.

If you would provide me with an outline of the process to become
illegal (retroactively if possible) and copies of the necessary forms, I would be most appreciative.
    Thank you for your assistance.
